Expectation

It is the theme of the season - expectation.  It seems our lives are so often lived in anticipation of what is to come - the things I need to get done today, an appointment tomorrow, a project at work, the change of the seasons - and even more so this time of year with Christmas worship services, special events, family gatherings, and especially the day that we celebrate Christ's birth!

How much more are we filled with expectation this year as we count down the days until our first child arrives, knowing that our lives will change more dramatically over the course of a few hours than we can really understand.  Nothing will be the same, yet at this point, we can't imagine what our lives will be!  And I've been telling everyone, "less than two weeks!" or "just 9 more days!" when I know perfectly well that this child will come in the Lord's time, which is not on my calendar.  What a joy to eagerly await this event, to meet this tiny, precious miracle and gift from God, and learn what our lives will become!
